What Your Intuition is Trying to Tell You

What Your Intuition is Trying to Tell You

Can you remember a time when you were about to do something and you said to yourself…This doesn’t feel right…I knew that was going to happen….That person is going to crash and burn.

Or you were thinking about an old friend from school or college, and that same day they call you?

It’s not likely we read peoples minds or anything like that, we just know that feeling we get in out gut when something makes us feel uncomfortable or alerts us of a potential issue.

When we were growing up our parents were always trying to keep us safe, offer us advice, keep us out of trouble. In our teen age years it was the advice of a close friend who always knew what was in our best interest, right???

Yet for most of us we never listen to that inner voice which is always there looking out for us. However there are other times when we just know it’s not a good idea to continue with:

listen

A new project or business venture

An unstable relationship

A large job promotion

An investment

When I began my journey within I was a bit unclear just how powerful this concept was. I read many books, listen to recordings, and watched many videos. One of the biggest challenges we are all faced with is, what your intuition trying to tell you? For most of us it is quite tricky to understand, on the outside we just want to make a quick decision and get on with it…But deep inside something is not quite right, which for most people is quite frustrating, and often times leads to bad decision.

In 1997 I was working on a construction project in downtown Boston MA, it was a job I had been working on for a couple of months, the building was new construction which means the structure is being built on the top while the infrastructure, plumbing, electrical, heating, air-conditioning, is being installed on the lower part of the building. We would walk across wood planks on the upper floors during construction until the concrete was poured.

One day as we were walking across the floor and I had that feeling in my gut like something was wrong, I told one of my co-workers to stop and not walk across the planks, he looked at me and said stop being paranoid Steve and kept walking, he took five stops and the plank he was standing on broke…as he was falling through the plank he caught himself. we ran over and helped him to his feet. A bit banged up but he was not seriously hurt.

Never underestimate your intuition-It could save your life some day…

trust-your-intuition

Use your intuition to your advantage. Here are three quick steps you can use on a daily basis to develop your intuition:

1)  Slow down your mind, find a place you can go at some point during the day, remove yourself from all the daily distractions which we are all exposed to. Shut off the phone, TV, radio, computer. Silence is key to hearing that inner voice inside you.

2) Let yourself make that connection, how do you feel? if you have feelings of fear, frustration, anger, uncertainty, or emotions that make you feel uncomfortable. When you make that connection to the real you and your intuition leaves you with a calm or relaxed state, you are headed in the right direction.

3) Clarity, you must be clear on what your intuition is trying to tell you, I have found that writing down what comes to mind helps guide you in the right direction, don’t worry about trying to get it perfect, just write it down. There is power in clarity. Remember your mind is like a computer, it only knows the information you give it.

If you wake up one day and have that feeling in your gut that you need a change, maybe you want a new job, a bigger house, or perhaps you just need a vacation. Listen to what your inner voice is trying to tell you.
