What Will Your Life Look Like In 10 Years?

A deep thought to start your week…What will your life look like in 10 years? No matter how hard we try time doesn’t stop, each day which goes by we all grow older, but the road we’re on now it going somewhere, the question is…Where? We can’t ignore the path we’ve taken is based on our decisions and actions. Truth is what if that road we’re on is not what we want? What can we do? Ten years is a long time looking forward, yet looking back seems like yesterday.

When I was in my twenties I worked 70-80 hours 6 days a week. I’m not afraid of hard work and long hours, putting in a good days work is good for the soul. You develop discipline and good habits. As the years went by I found myself looking down the road thinking to myself is this what I’ll be doing for the rest of my life? At the time I was surrounded by people working the same hours I was, although much older and wiser they still were in the same job they were in 10 years ago, not moving up the ladder, but stuck in the same job, day in and day out.

The older folks who I had the pleasure of working with were fantastic people to learn from, yet when asked what their goal was in the future a look of uncertainty came across their brow. What do you mean? I have a good job with benefits, retirement, and vacation time, what more do I need? Not the answer I was looking for. However that day began my thirst for knowledge and answers as to how successful people get to where they want to go.

My friends were good people doing a job they liked, yet most had no ambition to do better! As time went by I felt I was surrounded by people who were holding me back, not intentionally, just by their actions.

Back then people had good work habits, plenty of discipline and a good work history. So why then did most just stay working for the same company with little room for improvement? Not and easy question to answer.

One of my mentors taught me to feed my brain each day, like good food for the body, reading something positive each day can over time can an amazing impact in you overall outlook in life. I learned most of us already have what it takes to become wealthy and successful. Good work habits, discipline, however we fail short on the final thing which fuels our success, knowing where where we’ll be in 10 years, a clear plan to get there. Some say we are 90 percent there now all we need is that last 10 percent and a master plan.

Another aspect of success is action. We sometimes fall short of our goal in life, our goal is a dream with no daily action. We’re either engaged in disciplines which move our ideal forward or we’re not. We must be honest with ourselves before we can begin to take the right actions going forward.

Life is full of opportunity, each of has the ability to have what ever we want, all we need to do is develop a plan and take action. Look at where you are today, where do you see yourself in 10 years? If nothing changes will you be any further then you are today?

You can have more, however in order to have more we must become more. Begin by feeding your mind. Shut off the T.V. phone, computer and other distractions which hold you back from improving yourself. The best investment you can ever make is the one you make into yourself.

Start today…You’ll be glad you did!
