How To Overcome Adversity

How To Overcome Adversity

Today more than any other point in time our work ethic must be top notch. Employers are seeking the best as business is much more competitive as past years, we much seek our best each day no matter what position you hold and who you work for. In order to compete for high paying salaries with good benefits we have to stay on our toes, this is the new norm. Yet for some they would rather settle for less, not only in the work place but in life also.

There is nothing wrong with being content with a current position, challenge is when we stop stretching ourselves and look for the end of the day instead of what we can do better when our task is completed. When we settle our confidence suffers, our self worth suffers, as well as our ambition to grow. Opportunities are missed as our ability to notice a good path crosses ours…We become less, earn less than we were created to do. Never settle for less than you can do.

The good news is you can do something about it. At our core we all seek better, however what do we do to eliminate bad energy? You can make a few changes and embrace challenges. We can rely on our self discipline, self reliance, and self direction by doing a little more each day. There is no substitute for work, we can not sit there and think buy utilizing just affirmations and not take action! We cannot make work to just be done by saying words, and not take action.

Success does not just appear, we have to work for it. We are at our best when we work at something, we are rewarded by the universe when what what we do to puts back into society and serves the greater good. When a need is filled or a problem is solved is when we know we did our best.

Truth is we all sometimes face roadblocks which limit our abilities. This can influence our ambition and drive. When faced adversity the best way to address this is to grab a pencil and paper and write down what went wrong and what went right, there’s power in the written words, this allows for a birds eye of the issues at hand. At that point utilizing our internal self directed abilities we can begin to create a path for success. If you and I are to become a self driven and self directed we must overcome challenges. With the internet there is limitless information at our fingertips. Our unique situation is similar to someone else in the world, a little research should provide an example of that person.

Over the years I’ve had many people who worked for me approach with problems and few with solutions. When we are faced with an issue jot down on paper. “problem – solution”. In every situation there is an answer for each. Think about the problem and challenges at hand write it down. Next think about a solution as mention before look for someone who has overcome a similar issue, who can you talk to? what can you do?

Sometimes when under pressure we tend to not think clearly. Step back take a break, let your thoughts go. Finding a quiet place without distractions is best. Our mind can then focus on that creative energy we spoke about before. Think outside the box, no solution is crazy, be creative.

Lastly become a full time student. In life we never stop learning, that is if you desire more. For us to become more and unleash the person we wish to become we must become more…We can do that by reading.

Leaders are readers!
