From time to time I’m asked a question which the answer might surprise you. How can you help someone become better? Improve skills and be the very best they can be? Could it be training? Read more books? Take online classes on improvement?
No question self development is a great way to improve ones skills. However If you’re looking to help a person succeed you might consider working on your own self development first. Think about how valuable you’ll become once your skills improve. Imagine if your skills become 10 times better than they are now! Would your ability to lead by example help someone? You’ve been there and done that. A much easier model then just telling a person how to become successful.
Have you ever been on a plane and noticed the instruction about the oxygen masks? It doesn’t say to help the person next to you firs, it states to put yours on first. How can you help a person if your not able to breathe?
Same is true in real life, we must help ourselves improve before we begin to help another. In sports a valuable coach is one whom has been on the field playing the sport. In life same is true, a good doctor has made many diagnoses, an experienced sales person has been around the block sort of speak and has the ability to sell. An experienced person within their field is an asset to any company.
In some sense I wish parents would take that same advice. You hear story after story of parents helping out their kid so they can do better than they did. Many live unhappy and unfulfilled lives, perhaps they should adopt this philosophy, instead of focusing on everything but what makes them happy, begin buy focusing on what makes them happy.
We must recognize finding what we like to do best is a priority, Do you think teenagers would live longer, and have happier families in the future if their parents lived that way?
Personal development unlocks the door of possibilities, allows you to reach down and find your hidden identity while unleashing your potential. You ability to serve others increases-help family, friends and all those in need. Life becomes limitless, you are in control of where you want to be.
It’s been said if you want something you’ve never had you must do something you’ve never done. In order to earn more you must become more. It’s important to understand the universe gives what you give back. Value is rewarded, if we add value to the world we are compensated the same. If we continue to extract from the world, then the world takes from you.
You hear stories of people running a business which is only out for profits, only to fail after a few years. No value added, their profits drained.
You and I are here to live an extraordinary life, we were created to thrive not just survive. We must be students of personal development as well as teachers of same. There is a world of amazing opportunity out there right now, it’s up to us to take advantage of opportunity but to remain humble to what we receive in return. Always give more than you receive no matter how little it might be, over time you’ll be amazed how much more you’ll receive.
Truth is we must adopt a new philosophy that success is not something that happens, we must earn it. Once we develop a new mindset that which we do is value driven not financially driven we will begin attracting success into our lives.
