Everything Is Not a Priority

Everything Is Not a Priority

We’ve all heard about time management at some point in our lives, focus on what is a priority and work your plan, the issue is that to-do-list becomes longer and longer. In fact no matter how many things we write down often times we stress if everything does not get done…Sound familiar? If we wrote it down we must get it done…Truth is not everything needs to get finished everyday, it would be almost impossible to complete each task day in and day out. Instead before you end up stressed out focus on the high-priority items, complete them first, if there’s enough time work in the remainder.

If you find there’s not enough time to finish those last few tasks, write them in as high-priority items for the next day. Today we’ve been trained to become efficient in the work place which is a good thing for business, however often time can also lead to disappointment, extended work day, little time throughout the day to have a clear thought. We must re-train our brains to believe that it’s ok to not finish everything on the daily list. A new way of thinking as well as new habits. This can aid in our personal growth leading to more productive day. It can also be applied to our personal life.

In today’s always on society it can be very easy to find yourself connected to work related issues. We all own smart phones, access to email, phone, text message and many forms of communication. People find themselves working long hours to complete work only go home and answer a few emails, the though process is getting everything done so there will be less to worry about in the morning. The issue with technology is we now are plugged in 24/7 although we’re not at the office we still have an electronic device attached to our hip.

Although some companies let their work force work longer hours to finish everything. There is a new mindset in the world, businesses are adopting a new type of time management. First writing out the high-priority items you know you’ll be able to finish each day, completing them before you think about jumping into another task. Companies have determined their employees are actually happy and more productive. Setting reasonable expectations better way to grow a business. In fact some companies encourage employees not to answer emails on the weekends.

Stress in the work place driven by tight schedules with a laundry list of tasks dulls a persons creative abilities. Ever notice if you have an issue which you are having difficulty solving a problem, the harder you try the more frustrated you become! Ever notice the next day the issue is easily solved? A clear mind can have a chance of solving issues, unlike a stressed out mind which tends to look at the same issue and solve nothing.

We allĀ  share the same sense of accomplishment when a difficult task is completed. Truth is we need to slow down to go faster. Everything is not a priority, it will all be completed as long as we focus on which thing needs more attention than the other. Same is true for our personal lives. With us all working long hours our personal life tasks are equally important, challenge is we can’t get it all done at the same time, ever try multi tasking? Oh my…

In the work place or in our personal life each task must be given a level of importance, Choose what needs to be completed, don’t worry about the remainder of things on your list, tomorrow is another day!
